Using advanced technology to enhance creative processes, artistic expression, and innovation. Through our research, IPaT is merging physical and digital worlds with innovative creative ideas. The creative uses of technology are endless. We seek to identify, nurture, and grow creative and artistic ideas which may unlock new processes, inspire practical solutions with outside the box thinking, or simply lead to new forms of art expression.
Featured Labs and Projects
Computational Music for All Lab
This lab seeks to engage the public in creative and collaborative music-making. Research activities include: (a) Design, deployment, and evaluation of learning environments that increase and broaden participation in music-making and STEM fields. (b) Creation of experimental musical performances and experiences that redistribute the roles of composer, performer, and listener; expose the creative process to audiences in new ways; and engage the public as musical collaborators. (c) Design and development of core technologies to enable these experiences in real-time music notation, web audio, live coding, and network music.
Immersive Visualization & Interaction Lab
We are the Immersive Visualization & Interaction Lab (or IVI Lab for short), which is part of the Georgia Tech Visualization Lab (GTVis Lab). In the IVI Lab, we are passionate about the ever-evolving landscape of display and interaction technologies. With VR/AR becoming increasingly popular, we envision a future where these technologies seamlessly integrate into both personal and business domains. To contribute to this exciting future, we study how to harness the full potential of VR/AR to enhance existing workflows and to unlock new experiences that were once unimaginable with conventional computing devices.
Loop
Powered by Goat Farm, LOOP is a new cultural hub in Georgia Tech’s Creative Quarter that brings together art, technology, research, and community through exhibitions, performances, artist studios, and collaborative projects.
